Here you'll learn all about me: my interests and hobbies, the people in my life, and as the title says, you'll be able
to read about my weight loss journey which began on March 17, 2004.
My name is Susanne Densley, most people call me Susie, some people call me Badooze (a nickname that I acquired years
ago for who knows what reason.. I think because it rhymed with Susie Badoozie). I'm 34 years old and live in Las Vegas,
NV. I'm married to the most wonderful man I've ever had the pleasure to know, Roger. Together we have 2 children,
Jake is 3 years old and Charleigh is 1 1/2 years old, and we are also raising Roger's 3 sons from his first marriage.
Well, I say raising, but they are grown men. Andrew is 25, Adam and Zak are 19 (twins). They live with us and
will be home a few more years until they complete college.
Being overweight all of my life, my life has been obsessed with trying to lose the weight. I have been on just
about every diet you may have heard of and probably some you have not. Every diet I tried would work while I was on
the diet, then I'd gain back anything I had lost and then some. The lowest weight I recall being was 180 pounds in high
school. I have progressively gained weight every year since then. The more I'd diet, the more I'd gain.
On March 17, 2004, I underwent gastric bypass surgery, weighing in at 331 pounds. It took over 2 years for me to
make this drastic decision, and hopefully as you read through the pages of this website, you'll learn more about me and why
I chose this direction in my life. I can tell you this much, I'm 5 weeks out from my surgery, I've lost 39 pounds, and
I am completely satisfied and happy with the decision I made.
If you are interested in weight loss surgery (WLS), I highly recommend the surgeons I chose at the Surgical Weight Control
Center, Dr. Barry Fisher and his partner Dr. James Atkinson. They have a website you can view at www.bandandbypass.com. Dr. Atkinson was my surgeon and I can't say enough good things about him. The first step is a mandatory seminar,
held twice a month by the doctors. It was there that I finally understood why diets were making me get heavier and heavier.
I thought I could lose the weight on my own, and I could with a LOT of hard work, but I would never be able to keep it off.
I realized at that seminar, that this was the only way I could lose weight AND keep it off.
